First I would like to say Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! to all the Mamas that participated. You have helped me to transition into being a new mom and keep my blog updated. Baby and I truly appreciate it.

Mama: Me/Dae

Where She Blogs: Right here at LionessDae.com

When did you become a new mama? September 2015/age 30

Did you have a vaginal delivery, C-section or adopt? Vaginal

Who helped you out at home for the first week? B was here but he was sick. He helped as much as he could.

Did you breastfeed or formula feed? Breastfed

What product/gadget got you through the first month? Bouncy seat, Swaddle wraps

Where did you give birth? Medical facility

Did you use a particular birthing method? I attempted Lamaze at home and when I got to the hospital I was 10 cm so I just pushed her out.

How long did you stay off work? I stayed home for seven weeks.

How long before you got cabin fever? Umm, I didn’t really get a chance to have cabin fever. I had to leave the house the three days after we left the hospital.

Any advice for new mamas? Trust your Mama gut! I was stressing because my daughter wasn’t eating every two hours for 15 minutes on each breast. I didn’t want to force her to eat so I trusted my gut and let her eat when she was ready for as little or long as she wanted. Guess what?! She’s growing rapidly and healthy as can be.

When did you become a new mama? 2012 age 25; 2014 age 27

Did you have a vaginal delivery, C-section or adopt? Vaginal

Who helped you out at home for the first week? My husband; My Mama came for one day

Did you breastfeed or formula feed? Breastfed

What product/gadget got you through the first month? Nursing pillow; Swing

Where did you give birth? Medical facility; Home

Did you use a particular birthing method? Epidural method, haha!; I used the tub a lot but no particular method

How long did you stay off work? I’m actually still home almost 3 years later! Between children I went back occasionally as a supply teacher, but have generally been home

How long before you got cabin fever? Oh right away! I was out at playgroups when my first was a week old

Any advice for new mamas? My advice is to trust your instincts! I know it’s so cliche; but your ‘Mommy Gut’ can totally be relied upon. You know your baby best and what works for him or her.

If you are breastfeeding, the first few weeks can be rough but it gets easier and will be so worth it. Hang in there!

Definitely accept food if people offer, and if anyone asks what you need, it’s okay to really tell them what you need! Most people who offer have been there and are asking because they want to help.

And lastly, DO NOT compare your baby to other babies! It’s so easy to get stressed out about sleep, feeding, milestones and so many other little things; but there’s no need. My babies (and overall newborn experiences!) were totally different despite parenting them basically the same way.

Your baby is unique and wonderful. Enjoy them!

When did you become a new mama? 2011 age 28

Did you have a vaginal delivery, C-section or adopt? C-section

Who helped you out at home for the first week? My husband for two days, then I was on my own!

Did you breastfeed or formula feed? Breastfed

What product/gadget got you through the first month? Our Chicco playyard. Since I was recovering from a C-section and couldn’t do stairs, we had this set up downstairs. It had the changing table and a place for my little guy to nap as well.

Where did you give birth? Medical facility

Did you use a particular birthing method? No

How long did you stay off work? 12 weeks. But after 3 months of being back at work, I made the decision to be a stay-at-home mom!

How long before you got cabin fever? I didn’t! I had lots of family and friends visiting so I was kept entertained:)

Any advice for new mamas? Live in the moment. The dishes and laundry can wait. Your baby will only be this little once. I spent hours just holding Luca and memorizing every detail of his little face, his hands, his toes. I will always cherish this time that I had with him.

When did you become a new mama? Age 20

Did you have a vaginal delivery, C-section or adopt? C-section

Who helped you out at home for the first week? Family

Did you breastfeed or formula feed? Breastfed

What product/gadget got you through the first month? Automatic baby swing

Where did you give birth? Medical facility

Did you use a particular birthing method? No

How long did you stay off work? Still a stay at home mom going strong!

How long before you got cabin fever? I was out of the house driving around with my 2 week old as soon as my doctor gave me the okay! I hate being cooped up in on place for very long.

Any advice for new mamas? My advice to new moms is “slow down”. Your child will only be this age for so long! Next thing you’ll know, that cute chubby newborn will look like a completely different child. Breathe your new baby in, relax with him/her, cherish these moments. And remember, this too shall pass! Rough days come and go, but in between the rough days there are days to celebrate and laugh and enjoy. Congratulations on your new bundle of pure joy!
