Y’all…the nesting feelings have officially set in. I was cool, but after the shower last week I’m getting anxious. So I thought by having a more solid plan for what I want and where I want it might help calm my nerves. I’ve spent the past few days putting the nursery together and I thought I’d share…plus I want some opinions.
I’ve had the color scheme in mind for months. I’m not a big fan of (cartoon) character nurseries and I don’t want to get sick of looking at pink. I decided to go with shades of lavender, gray and white. I feel these colors are still feminine and girly but not overdone.
I want to paint the walls Suede Gray with Ultra Pure White on the ceilings and Pale Orchid on the trim and inside of the closet.
Now onto the furniture. Her room isn’t huge so I’m sticking with the necessities.
A convertible crib is a must! I love the idea of not having to buy several new beds. The dresser I’m not 100% sold on but I do like it. I would love to get a dresser and DIY it. Maybe paint it lavender with cute lil knobs. Now that I think about it, I’ll just switch out the knobs on this dresser. I do like that this dresser has a changing table attachment available.
I could not for the life of me find a complete set that I loved enough to pay $85+ for. Maybe because all my bedding sets I catch on sale or clearance. And I’m not comfortable with the fabric crib bumpers…they scare me. So I hit up the infamous Amazon and mixed and matched the bedding. I like it.
A few days before my anatomy scan I dreamed the baby was an elephant and I’ve been hooked on them ever since. Which is why I chose elephant accents for her room. It’s an added bonus that they match the color scheme.
Now I know these two chevron prints don’t match exactly and I’m ok with that. I actually prefer it that way, it won’t look too matchy-matchy. I don’t want the rug to cover the entire floor, we have beautiful original hardwoods. I just need something between the crib and dresser for those cold winter mornings that will be here before I know it.
Now for the walls. I was in search of some prints for the walls for quite some time and couldn’t find exactly what I wanted. I was looking for some that can be customized and some with an positive message. Then I came across Minted.com and all that changed! I’ve known about Minted for a few years but I thought they only did invitations and such. Come to find out they have a whole art collection. I love that these prints come in different sizes and a frame is optional. I think I’m gonna go without the frames and place the prints over the dresser. Check out the Pinterest board below for the prints I want in the nursery.
I must admit having a plan in place has calmed my nerves some. I feel like it’ll be easier to piece it all together now. Am I planning to have it all together before she’s born? Nah…that’s too much like right. I’m just happy to have my ideas on paper.
If you have any ideas or suggestions please let me know. While I like this nursery plan, it’s not written in stone.
