Hey Mamas! Let’s talk about these picky eaters. Camille is currently 17 months and her once extended palate is now very limited. Her pediatrician told me at the 15 month visit that this phase was coming again and was here to stay. More than anything she told me to prepare myself mentally. I’m still not there yet.
This isn’t the first picky phase we’ve been through. It’s actually the third! Camille was breastfed from day five. She was tongue tied and rapidly losing weight at birth and we had to supplement with formula for a few days. When she was about 5 months I wasn’t producing enough milk and had to begin supplementing with formula. I ran to the store and grabbed what was popular and went on about my day. Camille was NOT having it. After talking about it with B, we thought she might like an organic formula better.
B had me look at it from a different angle: what was in my milk. I had been taking Honest Company Multi Complete Prenatal Vitamins and had a veggie-filled diet. Don’t get me wrong, I was very much into sweet treats too but I ate a ton of veggies and drank smoothies. So we looked into looked into Honest Company Organic Premium Formula. It worked! She drank it! It was a bittersweet moment but the goodness of the formula ingredients made the transition easier for me.
Fast forward to now and Camille’s diet consists of
- oatmeal with fruit
- sweet potatoes
I had to get slick with the pasta. The first night I did noodles and sauce. Each night I added a new veggie. By the end of the week, the meal included noodles, sauce, cauliflower, onions, peppers, broccoli and shredded carrots. I know right! It was really good. Then I added in the green smoothies and once again I feel good about her picky diet.
