If you know me you know I’m all about natural and organic food for the girl. I made 90% of her baby purees and I attempted to make her some snacks. So naturally I headed over to Pinterest for some ideas. I saw a simple recipe for Applesauce Bites and I had the ingredients on hand and decided to give it a try. I was really confident going in and then…
So that is a before pic. I used my fave brand of baby food applesauce, cinnamon and some rolled oats I ground into oat flour because why buy baby and adult oatmeal? I don’t have the fancy pastry thingy the original recipe creator is using so I just rolled them into little balls with my hands. As I rolled each ball I placed it on a cookie sheet and baked for 10 minutes on 325F as instructed. B didn’t look too thrilled but I was making them for Camille and really wanted this to work.
It didn’t work. Those little balls were dry as hell! I added more applesauce than recommended because the mixture was a little dry but that still didn’t help. The taste was good but I was scared my little baby would choke. Before I could mash them up, add more wet ingredients and try again B chucked them and told me better luck next time and I did good for trying. Did I ever try again? Nope. Time is limited around these parts y’all. I did what moms with little time do. I asked around and in a Facebook mom group, cruised the baby food aisle at Target, read the ingredients and picked one. I settled on Baby Mum Mums. Camille loves them and I can read and understand the ingredient list. #WinWin
